Branching Out Into Photography

Nowadays, everyone's a photographer because of the ease of taking pictures on our cell phones. However, does that mean we're all GOOD photographers? Heck, no.

I'm not sure whether I fall in the category of "good photographer" versus "crap photographer," but I was willing to give sharing my pics a try. I often use the open source image site Pixabay for my publishing work, and so I decided to upload some photos there. The site is free to use and download images from, but if you really like an artist and use a lot of their pics, it's encouraged to tip them for their work.

I only have 10 images so far, with 5 more pending, but I figure I'll add a few more each month. If you'd like to check out my page, go HERE. And if you like what you see, give the pics a thumbs up or a download.

Here are three ones I love (but then again, I love all of them or I wouldn't have shared them):
Picture
Sunset view from my front lawn.

My kids' grandparents live in upstate NY, and while driving up for a visit, I saw this field - it was just asking for a photo. Stopped the car, snapped the pic, then got back in and continued on our way.
Picture
Santa brought my kids pets for Christmas this year. This guinea pig is called "Chocolate Bar" and is my youngest daughter's pet - so named because she (my daughter, not the pig) loves chocolate, and therefore she named her new favorite thing after her old favorite thing.
Hope you like what you see! Keep visiting to see more photos go up each month.

Oh dear! I see this trend so often among talented writers and editors. Having excelled in one or two artist endeavours, they are emboldened to try their hand at a third or fourth. No! You must resist the temptation to try your hand at photography. The rest of us are already intimidated by your award-winning writing and superior abilities as an editor. It is unfair to rub it in to normal people how much more talented you are than us. One, even two, exceptional talents are perhaps tolerable (to Democrats, anyway--clearly not acceptable to Trump supporters) but being good at everything is entirely unacceptable.

Hahaha. Well, at least I'm safe there - I'm not really a photographer. Just an occasional dabbler who takes pics of guinea pigs and my kids. Don't think I'll be lauded as the next Ansel Adams anytime soon. :)

Dear Ms McBain,

I hope you can help. I've been trying (and failing) to buy the Villainthology book -- I believe my story is in this. The "Buy Book" button on the Scribes site won't work for me. I can't find it on Amazon.ca or anywhere else.
Can you tell me how I might buy a copy? I live on Vancouver Island, so driving over the border isn't a sensible option.
Regards, Ken McBeath
