The Blank Page

Aha, my first blog.  I feel sorta silly, to be honest.  But it's a blank page and I feel compelled to fill it with words.  I suppose everyone feels self-conscious when starting something new, like a new job.  At least, on here, I don't have quite so many names to learn.  I already know everyone.

So what's new in my writing world?  I currently have queries for my book manuscript, Ascent of the Rose Queen, out to agents and am waiting for responses.  The story is a dark retelling of Beauty and the Beast based on the early French Middle Ages, but in a fantasy setting.  I am also waiting on responses to a couple of short stories out for submission to some magazines.  I'll elaborate if they get accepted.

These are my first submissions in about 10 years.  Although I have some publications from way back, I took a break from writing in order to enjoy my twenties, get married and have kids.  Now I've checked those off the list and it's time to get to writing again.
