Are you a writer looking for some inspiration? Or perhaps a reader or art/crafts lover looking for some gifts for yourself or others? If so, come down to the Gibbons Cultural Centre (5115 51 Street in the town of Gibbons) tomorrow on Saturday, September 27th, and enjoy author talks, art demonstrations and workshops, as well as music, food, and more. I'll be one of the authors who will be speaking about the craft of writing, and I'll have plenty of books and crafts for sale at my booth, in addition to some giveaways. So, please stop by and say hi! The entire event is free to attend, and it's family-friendly, with projects for kids to do also. Hope to see you there! During the fall, winter, and spring, The Stroll of Poets Society hosts a poetry reading every other Monday at the Upper Crust Restaurant, located at 10909 - 86 Avenue in Edmonton. From 7pm to 8:30pm, the back room of the restaurant is overrun by poets of all stripes, which includes several featured readers as well as an open mic, which you can sign up for when you get there.
This upcoming session is on Monday the 22nd (tomorrow), and it will include... me! I'll be one of the featured poets, as well as the wonderful writers Eric Rice and Lasith Witharana. $5 admission (which gets you snacks, desserts, and coffee/tea). Hope to see you there! What are you doing this weekend? I'll be in Calgary at the Stroll of Poets Festival listening to some great poetry, chatting with poets, and doing a bit of reading of my own. I'm so excited to be one of four poets chosen to represent the Edmonton poetry scene down south, and I'm pleased to be in the great company of LeiLei Chen, Max Vandersteen, and Marco Melfi. Most events for the festival are free, although they do request donations if you feel so inclined. So, if you're looking for a fun day with a fun group of writers, stop by one of the dozens of events going on this weekend on 9th Avenue SE. Hope to see you there! |
